Lenovo introduced the Miix 2 on Wednesday, a revamp to the company’s original Miix tablet, with an 8-inch display and Microsoft(s msft) Windows 8.1. The small slate is powered by an Intel(s intc) quad-core Bay Trail processor; the more capable and power efficient successor to last year’s Intel Atom chip.
With a $299 price tag and weight of just 350 grams, consumers looking for the full Windows experience on a small slate are sure to give the new Miix 2 a look. The 8-inch display offers 10-point multi-touch and a 1280 x 800 resolution. Running legacy Windows apps created for higher resolution, larger displays may not be ideal but it is an option unlike Microsoft’s Windows RT devices. Metro-style touch apps will likely provide a solid experience, however.
